The Life of Seeds: On Gratitude

I’m keeping a gratitude journal this month. It’s an ongoing list in my little notebook of what I receive every day. Even though it’s only day four, I’ve racked up quite a few things, some monetary and some not – the discount I got on vegetables from my favorite stand at the market, the email inviting me to present a long-time performance project in a group show at a gallery in New York, the text sent to me this morning with the encouraging words I needed to hear right at that moment.  Continue reading “The Life of Seeds: On Gratitude”

Within And Without: Finding Balance In Work & Life

One of the reasons I moved to Belize was because I wanted a slower pace. Living in my hometown of New York, where it felt like every minute needed to be scheduled, had worn me out. Between working to pay bills, finding time to spend with the people I love and taking care of my own needs, it all seemed to be one big rush, and never enough time to really enjoy my life. Changing My Mind

Part of my morning routine includes journaling. I like to do it sitting outside with my tea or coffee, and I find it’s best first thing when I wake up, before I do anything online and get caught up in emails and social media, when my mind is clear and fresh, and my thoughts are honest.
