Kyana by the sea in PG

I spent the weekend in Punta Gorda and Hopkins with the PETAL ladies. It was a perfect end to the month and just what I needed – being by the sea, hanging out, and taking a moment to enjoy the beauty of Belize.  Continue reading “August”

Say Yes: Summer Solstice & New Moon In Cancer

The rainy season has officially begun here in Belize. With it comes overcast mornings and afternoon showers, with fluctuating temperatures and peeks of sunshine. Between periods of heavy rain, the air is fresh and the colors of the surrounding trees and flowers come alive. Everything is so green, more lush and vibrant. After the scorching dryness of the previous months, I welcome the change this season brings.  Continue reading “Say Yes: Summer Solstice & New Moon In Cancer”

Taking A Moment

tea on porch

It’s been hard to write in this space lately. If I’m honest, it’s been hard to write in general. I worked on a piece this week for my coaching site about moving through resistance in the creative process, something I’d been putting off doing for weeks. While I feel good about having accomplished that, the fact that it took me so long to write it speaks to how I’ve been struggling with my own resistance. Continue reading “Taking A Moment”

Wrap It Up, B: Shifting Into A New Season

All around me shifts are happening. High season is coming here in Belize, and shops and restaurants around San Ignacio are preparing for the influx of tourists. It’s also still rainy season and we’ve been getting more regular showers throughout the day. The humidity is in full effect, the nights are cooler, and the days are starting to feel shorter as darkness creeps into the evenings a little bit earlier than before. Finding My Flow

Dangriga beachLast week there was a hurricane here in Belize, which resulted in us being without electricity for three days. We were lucky in that we still had running water and no serious flooding on the farm, and there wasn’t much water damage to my belongings except for a few soggy books and journals. All things that can be replaced. Still, it was uncomfortable and exhausting, with hot and buggy nights, and spoiled food. Continue reading “Finding My Flow”

The Road: Healing, Process & New Moon In Taurus

Last night it poured, a heavy, steady rain, bringing relief from the intense heat we’ve had here in Belize during the hottest time of the year. I woke up this morning to quiet drizzle and the smell of cooling earth. As I sat outside drinking coffee on the wooden bench in front of my apartment, I noticed how much greener and lush the plants and trees looked, replenished and restored. I’m feeling this shift into rainy season, slow and subtle. It signals the arrival of a new cycle, carrying with it a freshness of perspective. A Beautiful Mess: Spring Equinox

Here in Belize, with its year-round heat and sunshine, I’ve actually become more sensitive to dips in temperature. My body feels the difference between eighty-five and ninety degrees, and a few days of seventy degree weather from a coastal cold front feels chilly. As much as I adore living in a place that is always warm, I remember how exciting it was in New York when spring finally sprung. Even though there isn’t a shift in weather here, I am tuning into the spring equinox and its influence on my own internal shift.  Continue reading “A Beautiful Mess: Spring Equinox”
